Why do pimples form? 1 answer on Quora

Why do pimples form?

Your skin is your largest organ. Generally pimples form when your body isn’t able to properly process foods etc, and in layman terms (and trying to not be to graphic), your body gets clogged and uses your skin to ‘digest’/'release’ the excess matter. Hence, pimples. That’s why it is so important to eat “clean” and to detoxify on a regular basis so your liver is able to do its job properly. From the outside, pimples are formed when dead skin and pollutants are not regularly removed from the surface. Your skin turnover rate is about once every 30 days (if you are in your 30s+) so it is important to remove the dead skin with an exfoliant (preferably one that sloughs off only the dead skin cells like alphahydroxy (AHAs)) so that the surface of your skin doesn’t get clogged as well.
